Day 1: Arrival at Cochin Airport
MJ Tours & Travel give you a very warm welcome at Cochin Airport where you will get transferred to the Hotel in Fort Kochi. Kochi is the main Harbour in Kerala that has several historical places. In the evening we will visit Fort Kochi, Chinese Fishing Nets and St Francis Church.
Day 2: Munnar
We transfer to Munnar which is a hill station situated 1600 meters above sea level. This hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. The town is 130 km far from Kochi and it could be a four hour journey. We will visit the Tata Tea Factory as well as the Attukal waterfalls before we reach the resort. The name Munnar means "three rivers" in Malayalam, referring to the location at to the confluence of three mountain streams - Kundaly, Madurapuzha and Nallathanni. We will stay there for a night.
Day 3: Munnar area
We will get up early and go for a Tea Plantation Tour. We will drive down to Devikulam for a Trekking experience and Mattupetty dam is good for boating. We will do a boat trip. We will rest after lunch and we will be a spectator in a Kerala Traditional Dance Show at the hotel.
Day 4: Anaimalai
After breakfast we will leave to Anaimalai which is 115 km far from Munnar, it will take four hours to reach there. Anaimalai is well known for its salubrious climate. The beauty of Anaimalai is enriched by 'Aliar' and 'Uppar' rivers running through the city. In the evening, we will visit the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary has a rich diversity of animal life including: Mammals, Amphibians, Birds, Reptiles, Fish, Insects and Butterflies. We will get back to Anaimalai and stay there for a night.
Day 5: Mettupalayam
We will start our journey towards Mettupalayam, which is 115 km from Anaimalai and we will reach it in four hours. On our way to Mettupalayam, we will make a stop at the Siruvani Waterfalls, and we will have a picnic there. Water from Siruvani River is renowned for its taste and mineral properties. We could continue our journey towards the Siruvani reservoir to enjoy the panoramic view from the dam. We will reach Mettupalayam in the evening which is located in the foot hills of Nilgiri Hills and is 30 km north of downtown Coimbatore.
Day 6: Coonoor
Let us get up early at 5 a.m., to catch the Nilgiri Mountain Toy train that goes up to Ooty. Its a 4 hours journey to head to Coonoor where we will get down. We will enjoy traveling through the tea plantations and lovely landscapes. We will head to Ooty for lunch which is 45 minutes drive from Coonoor. Ooty is the most popular hill station in the region. Ooty is also popularly known for the Kurinji flower that blooms every twelve years. Moreover the bloom is expected to last only between mid to end October. We will visit the Fern hills palace, which was the summer residence of Mysore Maharaja. It was built in 1844 and it resembles a Swiss chalet. This palace spreads over 50 acres of green lawn, stylish garden and dense woods with the spectacular views of tea gardens. We will move towards the lake which is a popular destination for a boat trip and we will do a small boating trip here. We will drive back to our hotel in Coonoor slowly amidst misty weather.
Day 7: Coonoor area
We will go for a trek through tea plantations starting at Dolphin's Nose Viewpoint. It will take us 3 hours to complete. We will have a picnic on the way and will be welcomed by the monkeys. The Nilgiri hills are known to be the home of tribals. Amongst them, the Toda people are a small pastoral community. They existed before 18th century and they traditionally live in settlements (called mund) consisting of three to seven small thatched houses, constructed in the shape of half barrels. On the way back we will visit the Sim's park botanical garden which is 140 years old and is offering a variety of flowers and trees. Let us relax for the evening and get prepared for a journey to another lovely place.
Day 8: Wayanad
Let us travel to Wayanad after breakfast which is 115 km far from Ooty and we will reach in 3 hours. Wayanad is known for the forests and it is in the state of Kerala. There are many tribals living in this part of Kerala. We will do trekking in Neelimala and reach Meenmutty waterfalls to get wet! Neelimala is located in the south west of Wayanad and it is a trekkers delight with options for different trekking routes. Meenmutty waterfalls is located very close to the Neelimala and it can be reached with the 2 km trekking route connecting Ooty and Wayanad main road. We will head to the hotel and enjoy the beautiful serene view.
Day 9: Wayanad area
Let us visit the breathtaking Chembra Peak, which is the highest peak in Wayanad at 2100 meters above sea level. The towering Chembra peak is located in the Meppadi. We will get back to the hotel and relax there for a night.
Day 10: Nagarhole
We will travel to the Nagarhole National Park which is located in Karnataka, 55 km far from Wayanad. Also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, the reserve is a place of unspoilt wilderness with rich forest, small streams, hills, valleys and waterfalls. We will enter the park in the early afternoon. Hopefully we will spot lots of deer, sambars, langurs, wild boars, bison, mongooses and giant squirrels. The best time to view the animals is during the heat of March and April, when the waterholes are dry and the animals come out and visit the lake. Chances of spotting a tiger are higher in summer peaks! We will get back to the hotel for a night's stay.
Day 11: Madikeri
It is time to travel Madikeri which is 90 km far from Nagarhole and it takes 3 hours to reach there. Madikeri is a hill station town in Karnataka, also known as Mercara. This small city is the Headquarters of Kodagu district which is a popular tourist destination. We will visit Raja's Seat and Madikeri fort. Raja's Seat is a very popular view point loved by the kings of Kodagu for the relaxation. Madikeri fort was built by Mudduraja in the last quarter of the 17th century. There is a famous Lord Ganesha temple known as 'Kote Ganapathi' at the main entrance of the fort. We will go back to the hotel for the night.
Day 12: Madikeri area
We will visit one of the most popular Hindu temples known as 'Omkareshwara Temple' which is built by the king Lingarajendra in 1820. In the evening we will get wet in the Abbey falls and return to the hotel for a stay overnight.
Day 13: Mysore
We will move to Mysore which is 90 km far from Madikeri. We will visit the picture perfect Mysore Palace in the evening and it was built in 1912 by Henry Irwin, a renowned architect of British India. Mysore is commonly described as the city of palaces; however the term Mysore palace refers to the absolutely extravagant one within the old fort. Mysore palace is now one of the most famous tourist attractions in India after Tajmahal and it hosts more than 2.7 million visitors per year. We head to the hotel for a night stay.
Day 14: Mysore
It's a day for relaxation and of course you could make use of it for buying Souvenirs for your dear and near one's.
Day 15: Transfer to Bangalore Airport
We leave to Bangalore Airport for your flight home.
