India has plenty of beaches and monuments, but only a handful of destinations have both beaches and monuments together.

Day 1: Arrival at Chennai Airport
You will be given a warm welcome by MJ Tours & Travel crew at Chennai airport and then transfer directly to Mahabalipuram. Fifty five km from Chennai, Mahabalipuram is famous for its splendid beaches and world famous monuments. Mahabalipuram was a bustling seaport in the first century and later it turned into Indian dynasty of Pallavas. After your long journey you will have the opportunity to rest completely for a day and enjoy the first of your four nights in one of Mahabalupurum's most romantic hotels.

Day 2: Mahabalipuram
A chance to relax and enjoy the sun and heat of South India with sunbathing and swimming in the Bay of Bengal. Our resort is located on the beach and an ideal place for honeymoon couple. In the afternoon, an opportunity to explore some of the sculptures and ancient temples in this world heritage site: Sea Shore Temple, Five Rathas, Arjuna Penance, Krishna Mandapam and Krishna Butterball. You will also be a spectator in a Pongal Festival Dance Show in which a number of cultural and classical dances are displayed. This Dance festival begins on 23rd December and ends on 25th January.

Day 3: Mahabalipuram area
A chance to witness the spectacular sunrise at Tiger Cave, a short walk from your hotel. Well worth getting up early for, this is a stunning yet private beach destination is popular with romantic couples. As well as the beautiful beach, you will be surrounded by the elaborate carvings of Tiger Cave and a Shiva god temple carved out of the rock. The Tiger Cave is considered to be one of the Mahabalipuram's finest rock-cut temples, constructed by the Pallavas in the 8th century AD. In the evening you will be offered an adventurous horse ride along the coast and the chance to take in the glorious sunset.

Day 4: Mahabalipuram area
A relaxing day on a Fishing Tour where you will get the chance to see how the fish are caught. The catch of the day will be served as lunch, and you will be invited to a local fisherman's house for the fresh Seafood. It's a unique opportunity to meet the local people and understand the Tamil culture. A relaxed afternoon on the beach followed by a trip to the nearby Eagle Temple. Perched on top of a hill, the views of the surrounding area are spectacular. You will also participate in a special Pooja (ritual) in Vedagiriswarar Temple dedicated to lord Shiva. Rituals performed here would heartening and we will come down to visit in the down hill temple too. In the evening you will enjoy a candle-lit dinner organized by MJ Tours & Travel.

Day 5: Cochin
You take your own sweet little time and leave for Chennai Airport. On our way to the Airport we will visit the second urban longest beach in the world - Marina beach - and catch the flight to Cochin. From Cochin, you will travel to a charming hotel at Fort Kochi where you will stay for two nights. Here you can relax for the rest of the day, and walk around the traditional Chinese Fishing nets in the evening. There will be a special dinner at a heritage hotel.

Day 6: Cochin (Fort Cochin)
A busy morning sight-seeing the St.Francis Church, Mattanchery Dutch Palace and Jewish Synagogue before returning to the hotel for lunch. In the evening you will be a spectator at a Kerala Kathakali Dance show which will last for 2 hours from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Day 7: Munnar
After breakfast you will travel to Munnar, 127 km from Cochin. Munnar has an ideal climate and stunning scenery, making it a popular destination for the honeymoon travelers. In the evening you will have the chance to get wet in the Attukal waterfalls and then drive back to the hotel for a tea plantation walk. You will overnight in one of Munnar's most delightful hotels.

Day 8: Munnar area
A relaxing day at the hotel followed by an evening visit to Mattupatty dam and Tata Tea Museum. Mattupatty dam offers a wonderful boat ride on the lake. Back at the hotel, there will be Kerala dance entertainment. A final night in the Munnar hotel.

Day 9: Alleppey
In the morning you will travel 172 km to Alleppey. Described as the perfect honeymoon destination, Alleppey is the setting off point for your stunning house boat cruise on the Keralan backwaters. The backdrop of the stunningly beautiful Vembanad Lake provides the romantic setting - it is the longest freshwater lake in Kerela and is also known as the Venice of the east. You will sleep in the houseboat for two nights - it will stay in your memories forever.

Day 10: Alleppey
Enjoy sunrise and sunset from your houseboat; a day of relaxation and of soaking up the beauty of your surroundings.

Day 11: Varkala
After relaxation in Alleppey, it's time to travel to Varkala, a beach destination with a cliff view. 117 km from Alleppey, the journey there is an opportunity to experience the wonderful coastal line. Varkala is known for the beaches and 2000 years old Janardanaswamy Temple dedicated Lord Vishnu. In the evening you will visit the Janardanaswamy temple and spend some quiet time on the beach. Overnight in one of Varkala's finest hotels.

Day 12: Varkala
Varkala is the famous among the ayurveda centres of Kerala and you will be offered a special Kerala Ayurvedic massage after lunch. The rest of the day can be spent sunbathing and swimming in the Arabian Sea, and a final night in your Varkala hotel.

Day 13: Kovalam
An hour's travel to Kovalam - a beach destination also known for spirituality. Kovalam has some beautiful beaches and scenery. You will have the opportunity to visit Light house beach, Hawah beach and Samudra beach - the three most important beaches in Kovalam. In the evening a trip to visit the famous Sree Padmanabaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu; the rituals performed are exciting to watch. You will overnight in Kovalam.

Day 14: Kovalam
A relaxing day on the rejuvenating Kovalam beach. In the evening you will be invited for a special Kerala Thali dinner in which you will have the opportunity to sample many varieties of traditional food. It will be a night to remember.

Day 15: Transfer to Trivandrum Airport
You will travel from Kovalam to Trivandrum to catch your flight home. We hope that you leave with wonderful memories of our beautiful country.
